Student Leadership

There are numberous ways to be involved in Student Leadership at Spruce Avenue.

Students are offered a option Leadership class. The class is currently schedule to meet for one period twice per week. In class, students will learn about service to others and contribute to the success for school events such as A Taste of Spruce, a culinary festival that highlights the diversity of our school population.

Students that do not elect to take Leadership are offered several opportunities to act in a leadership capacity. Throughout the year volunteers are needed to assist with events and activities around the school. These volunteering opportunities include serving lunch with SEVA or making daily school-wide announcements.

Lastly, the Spruce Avenue offers students a chance to show their leadership potential through The Giving Project. This bi-annual project asks students to design and participate in service learning with classmates and staff at Spruce Avenue. In past projects, students have written Christmas Cards for patients at the Glenrose Rehabilitation Facility, shovelled walks in the community, performed random acts for kindness, and collected money for the Edmonton Humane Society.

At Spruce Avenue School we value and demonstrate "Service to Others".
